In the present work we investigate versions of Michlin’s theorem for pseudodifferential operators with non-regular Banach-valued symbols and their applications to the generation of analytic semigroups on Banach-valued Sobolev spaces. For arbitrary Banach space E and arbitrary L(E)−valued symbols it is impossible to ob- tain a Michlin’s theorem on Lp (Rn , E). Hence we replace the Lp space by the vector space V (Rn , E), which is defined by the union of all Besov spaces. For Banach spaces Ei , i = 0, 1, 2, m,ρ scalars m ∈ R, l, ρ ∈ N with ρ ≥ 2l > n and symbols a ∈ S1,0 (Rn , E1 ), which all derivati- ves smaller than or equal than ρ are continuous, we show that there is a unique linear map a (D) : V (Rn , E2 ) −→ V (Rn , E0 ) with a (D) ∈ L(Bp,q (Rn , E2 ) , Bp,q (Rn , E0 )). Its restriction s+m s on every intersection Cb ∞ (Rn , E ) ∩ B s+m (Rn , E ) (s ∈ R, p, q ∈ [1, ∞]) coincides with the clas- 2 p,q 2 sical definition of the pseudodifferential operator a (D) in [Ku,81], which has been defined by means of an oscillatory integral. In this way, we show that suitable restrictions of the operator −a (D) generate analytic semigroups on the Besov spaces Bp,q (Rn , E0 ) and C ∞ −semigroups on s the Sobolev spaces Wp (Rn , E0 ). k Furthermore, using that a (D) ∈ L(Bp,q (Rn , E2 ) , Bp,q (Rn , E0 )), the continuous embedding s+m s Bp,1 (Rn , E) → Wp (Rn , E) → Bp,∞ (Rn , E) k k k (1 ≤ p ≤ ∞), k and some properties of the interpolation theory, we show that the Wp −realization of a parabolic npseudodifferential operator, for which the corresponding symbol has a m−homogeneous principal part, is the negative generator of an analytic semigroup on Wp (Rn , E0 ) and, if p < ∞, it is the k generator of a strongly continuous semigroup. Therefore, we obtain the existence and uniqueness of solutions for non-autonomous Cauchy problems in Besov and Sobolev spaces. r m,ρ Finally, we introduce a class of symbol C∗ S1,δ (Rn , E), in which the symbols a(x, ξ) are non- regular in the local variable x and in the dual variable ξ, and in which are included the class of symbols defined in [Am,97] and [Ki,03]. Using a version of decomposition of symbols into elemen- tary symbols introduced in [CM,79], and using some results from the Littlewood-Paley theory, r m,2ρ we obtain for symbols a ∈ C∗ S1,δ (Rn , E) (r > 0, 0 ≤ δ ≤ 1, ρ ≥ 2l > n) a pseudodifferential operator a (x, D) with a (x, D) ∈ L Bp,q (Rn , E2 ) , Bp,q (Rn , E0 ) , if − (1 − δ) r < s < r. This s+m s pseudodifferential operator coincides with a (D) and a (x, D) denifed in [Ki,03]. In other words, this result generalizes the versions of the Michlin’s theorem in [Am,97; Th 6.2] (if p, q ∈ [1, ∞)) and [Ki,03; Th 2.3.1] (if p ∈ [1, ∞] und q ∈ [1, ∞)).
