Abstract: Über die Liniarität der Teichmüllerschen Modulgruppe des Torus mit zwei Punktierungen.
On the linearity of the Teichmüller modular group of the twice punctured torus The aim of this thesis is to find and to analyse linear presentations of the Teichmüller modulargroup of the twice punctured torus.Especially I am embedding the modular group into a p-adic liegroup. We will write F for the free group, generated by two elements and Aut(F) for its automorphism group. Inthe first chapter I will show the equivalence of: - the Teichmüller modular group of the twice punctured torus is linear, - Aut(F) is linear, - there is a characteristic p-congruenzstructure of F. In the second chapter it is shown that one can embed a subgroup of Aut(F) of finite index into the automorphismgroup of a simple p-adic liegroup.Until now, its not known, if the Burau presentationis faithful. I showed, there is a system of infinite linear equations, solved exactly by the coefficients of the members of the cernel of the Burau presentation. In the third chapter it is shown by the tools, created in the first chapter that the twice punctured torus is linear iff the Teichmüller modular group of the five times punctured sphere is.It is well known that the 4.Braid group is linear. One realises immediately by checking the definitions that the 4.Braid group is nothing else than the Teichmüller modular group of the four times punctured closed disk. Now there is a mapping from the open four times punctured disc onto the five times punctured sphere.By a short sequence, induced by this mapping, one finds immediately (e.g. by the first chapter) the linearity of the Teichmüller modular group of the five times punctured sphere.
