In this thesis, the synthesis of novel, persistent ferrocenyl and silyl substituted tin(III) radicals was developed and the optimization of the existing synthetic routes was discussed. The mononuclear and dinuclear partially silyl substituted stannyl radicals should carry spatially demanding electropositive hypersilyl groups respectively bis(trimethylsilyl)-tert-butyldimethylsilyl groups [Hyp = Si(SiMe3)3; Sit = -Si(SiMe3)2SiMe2tBu] for kinetic stabilization. In addition the molecules should also carry a ferrocenyl group for kinetic stabilization. Furthermore the particular properties of these ferrocenyl groups should open new fields of applications for these compounds. The silyl substituents were introduced via the corresponding potassium silanes, the stable metallocene was introduced via mono- and disubstituted ferrocene derivatives. Therefore two classes of precursors were needed for the synthesis of trivalent stannyl radicals: 1) halostannanes, which were synthesized by the α-oxidation of organylhalides to the corresponding stannylenes 2) and lithium stannanides, which were prepared by the α-addition of organolithium compounds to the corresponding stannylenes. The relatively extensive work-up of the ferrocenyl substituted compounds was carried out by size exclusion chromatography. Three different reaction pathways were taken for the preparation of the trisubstituted tin(III) radicals: a) a one-electron reduction of the halostannanes by decamethylcobaltocene, b) a one-electron oxidation of the lithium stannanides using tin(II)bis[bis(trimethylsilyl)amide] and c) a comproportionation of halogenated stannanes with lithium stannanides. The characterization of the compounds was examined by NMR, ESR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography. The redox behavior of the compounds was investigated by cyclic voltammetry.en_GB
