| dc.description.abstract | This literary-linguistic dissertation includes research from the fields of neuroaesthetics, neurolinguistics and literary scholarship to develop, based on existing models, a model of literary sentence processing which explains the relationship between sentence form and aesthetic effects. Using examples from Elizabeth Bowen’s novels The Last September, The Heat of the Day and To the North, the author demonstrates how ambiguity, negation, parallelism, alliteration and rhyme may impact sentence processing and aesthetic pleasure. | en_GB |
