This dissertation studies the effect of mechanochemistry on mineralogical compounds, especially carbonates, phosphates, silicates and sulfates. As mechanochemistry can be applied to obtain amorphous intermediates, the influence of ionic constituents and different solvents was investigated to develop a better understanding of high energy ball milling. By this approach the synthesis of a new alkali-activated binder as an alternative to conventional cement, the formulation of stable bassanite dispersion, the amorphization of hopeite by iron impurities, as well as the amorphization of calcium carbonate monohydrate could be investigated. In addition, an adapated synthetic procedure could be developed to elucidate the structure of Magadiite by means of ADT.en_GB
