dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to determine the accessory canal filling potential of vertical and lateral condensation techniques in simulated root canals. A total of 130 prepared transparent, straight-simulated root canals with nine accessory canals (0.02 mm), prepared at different levels from the apical, were obturated with vertical (n = 100) and 30 lateral condensation (n = 30) techniques. 50.33% of the accessory canals obturated with vertical condensation were completely filled with gutta-percha; 37.78% completely filled with gutta-percha and sealer. 61.11% of the accessory canals were completely filled with sealer only using the lateral condensation technique. The vertical condensation technique filled the accessory canals more frequently than the lateral condensation techniques. The lateral condensation technique was not capable of delivering gutta-percha to any of the accessory canals. The apical third showed the lowest accessory canal filling frequency with both techniques. | en_GB |
