| de_DE |
dc.description.abstract | In search for highly reactive transition metal silyl compounds Tilley synthesized coordinatively unsaturated tris(trimethylsilyl)silanides, also known as hypersilanides, of chromium, manganese and iron in 1987 and 2002. But many crystals could not be characterized by X-ray crystallography and only the products of destructive hydrolysis were analyzed by NMR spectroscopy. In this thesis paramagnetic manganese(II) and iron(II) hypersilanides were synthesized in one-step reactions of potassium hypersilanide (KHyp) with manganese(II) and iron(II) chloride (MnCl2, FeCl2). The reaction products were characterized by X-ray crystallography, EPR, Mössbauer, NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopy. MnCl2 and FeCl2 react with KHyp in tetrahydrofuran (THF) to the tetrahedral complexes [MnHyp2(THF)2] and [FeHyp2(THF)2]. With the addition of tetramethylethylenediamine (TMEDA) colorless [MnHyp2(TMEDA)] and red violet [FeHyp2(TMEDA)] are obtained instead. If only one equivalent of KHyp is used, yellow [FeClHyp(TMEDA)] is formed. [MnHyp2(TMEDA)] and [FeHyp2(TMEDA)] react with the N-heterocyclic carbene MeIiPr in a ligand substitution reaction to [MnHyp2(MeIiPr)] and [FeHyp2(MeIiPr)]. The crystal structures of two side products were obtained. Two more were identified by NMR spectroscopy. | en_GB |
