Abstract: Die Studie untersucht die Bedingungen des Aneignungshandelns jugendlicher Teilnehmer in den Berufsvorbereitenden Bildungsmaßnahmen (BvB) der Bundesagentur für Arbeit.
The study analyzes possibilities of agency of young people in the BvB-programm (Berufsvorbereitende Bildungsmaßnahmen) which was implemented in 2004 by German Arbeitsagentur. The given literature on the issue is completed by an analysis based on casestudies documentating individual views and meanings of the adressees. Which are the needs of young people with low or without school degree in the process of transition to career ? Does the BvB-programm meet these needs? What are the factors in this given setting that can foster the adressees and which ones are hindering them in reaching their own aims ? To find answeres to these questions the study reconstructed the process of transition of five adressees within the BvB program. Two further cases which could not be documentated over the whole time were also included because of their meaningfulness for he issue. The cassestudies are based on qualitative methods of social research. The study claims to find out criteria for the organisation of transition processes by analyzing the different cases. Nowerdays this question has also been raised in relation to the integration of young refugees in Germany. The theoretical framework of the study comes from the theory of selfefficacy by Albert Bandura, the theory of social work by Michael Winkler and the ecology of human development by Urie Bronfenbrenner. Ethical points of view are also included and discussed, which is indispensable in qualitative research as pointed out by the author. The results of of the research are showing the important role of social support during transition and the need of continuity and quality of the supporting processes. They also document the positive effect of practical work for the personal development of the young people.
